How Do Mity Lite Round Folding Tables Compare to Lifetime Round Tables?

Key Features of Mity Lite Round Folding Tables:

We will first analyze the Mity Lite brand of folding table. Mity Lite has a different target market than Lifetime Products. Mity Lite tends to target a market that is more commercial or industrial, whereas Lifetime Products is more of a home or banquet setting. Because of this distinction, they publishes a weight capacity of their tables, which most of the time exceeds 1,600 lbs. of evenly distributed weight. Their round folding tables have legs that begin attached closer to the center of the table. From there, the legs come straight down and eventually spread out as they touch the floor. This design creates great stability in the table as well as strength to support additional weight on the top of the table. These tables also feature a standard 3/4" table top thickness, which should easily be adaptable to most table skirts. Also, due to their more commercial nature, Mity Lite round folding tables come with a 12 year factory warranty.

Key Features of Lifetime Round Tables:

Lifetime Products has a similar product to Mity Lite round tables, but with a different intended use and a different market. Lifetime round tables are better used in a home or church setting, where you do not foresee abusive use. These folding tables are not going to break over night, but their intended use is more for family get togethers or church gatherings. Lifetime Products does not publish a weight capacity for their tables because they are not built to be heavy weight bearing tables. The leg design is significantly different from Mity Lite's design in that the legs are not joined in the center, but come straight down in what would be the four corners of a square table. This sort of design has easy leg access and even table-top height in mind. On larger Lifetime round tables - those 60" in diameter and larger - they feature an "H-bracket" that attaches the two legs on either side of the table together, which provides strength in the table. Because of their design and intended use, Lifetime round tables come with a 10 year factory warranty.

So which one is right for you?

Both of these brands of table have the same blow-molded table-top material, and both have a steel frame and leg construction. This type of comparison will likely be futile. Probably then, the best place to start out in answering this question is to ask yourself, "Does weight capacity matter to me?" To answer this, if the question "Do I need to support 1600 lbs. or 2000 lbs." is answered by you saying "Probably 400 lbs.", then weight capacity probably does not matter to you. In this case, Lifetime Products would be your best option. Lifetime round plastic tables are more than enough for your intended use. If you realize you need that extra weight capacity of Mity Lite tables, then you need to check your budget. While Mity Lite tables are worth every penny you pay, expect to pay anywhere between $100 and $200 more per round folding table for Mity Lite products.

What Are the Differences Between Correll Folding Tables and Lifetime Tables?

There are several manufacturers of folding tables that are based in the United States.

Both Lifetime Products and Correll, Inc. call the United States home. These two manufacturers also share many other things in common: 1, they both maintain factories in the United States; 2, they both manufacture comparable plastic folding tables; and 3, they have both been around for several decades. Inside all of these similarities are several major differences in their product line and general operations, which will be outlined below.

Differences in origination of their folding tables and general lead time for delivery.

While Lifetime Products does maintain a factory for making their tables in Utah, they also maintain a factory overseas in China. The purpose of this expansion was to be able to compete with other manufacturers that were making comparable products to Lifetime for cheaper outside the United States. With that said, Lifetime Products manufacturers a great deal of their product at their Utah location. Any of their packaging will clearly mark the country of origin for their tables. Correll,on the other hand, produces their product entirely in Arkansas (as of the writing of this article). Correll's plant supports their production needs as well as their sales operations.

While maintaining American locations for their warehouses makes for reasonably fast transit times with their orders, lead times between the two companies can vary significantly. Lifetime folding tables are almost always stocked and usually leave their warehouse within 1 business day. Correll on the other hand has two separate services; one of these is a quick ship (1 to 3 business days to leave the warehouse) and the other is a standard ship build-to-order (3-7 business days to leave the warehouse). What this means to you, the customer, is that you ought to research with the reseller you are purchasing from, what type of product your potential order is to know what time frame you can expect the shipment of your order; fortunately, you will never have to worry about extended backorder times because if the item is not a quick-ship product, then the product is build-to-order and will leave shortly after production. The downside to Lifetime's method is that they build their different products in bulk and warehouse the remaining items. This means that you have a much stronger likelihood of backorders that could push back delivery of your order up to a month; this problem is exacerbated if the model is produced in China. Same as with Correll products, if you have questions about the quantity you are ordering being available, be sure to always ask a sales representative for current stock status.

A Comparison of the quality and variety of Correll Folding Tables and Lifetime Tables.

Both of these companies build plastic tables that are close to being the same in specs and features. The easiest way to make sense of the products available would be to list the several models in order of durability and intended use. At the lowest end of the spectrum would be the CP-series for Correll, Inc. These folding tables are meant for light-duty, infrequent uses. As such, these tables come with only a 2-year warranty. The next step up would be the Lifetime Tables. These tables are used for medium-duty work, somewhat frequently. Lifetime Products warranties all regular folding tables for 10 years and their fold-in-half tables for 2 years. Finally, a step up from there would be the R-Series from Correll. This model of folding table would be used for Heavy-Duty, frequent situations. Correll warranties these tables for 5 years. From there, only Correll offers folding tables that are not blow-molded plastic. Correll offers folding tables in melamine, high-pressure laminate top, and plywood core.

The companies are both older businesses, but one is younger in the folding table market.

Correll, Inc. has almost always been in the folding table business. Their target products have been folding tables and chairs for churches, schools, and municipalities. Lifetime Products would be considered a more recent entrant into the folding table market. Their entrance came in the 90's when they began perfecting a blow-molding process. While this is not necessarily a reason to buy or not to buy from either company, it does give a good reference to the experience and expertise of the companies in their respective products.

Advice to Help Match Your Lifetime Chairs With Your Lifetime Folding Tables

What colors do Lifetime Chairs and Lifetime Folding Tables Come in?

Lifetime Products produces all of their chairs and folding tables in essentially 4 colors: white granite, black, almond, and putty. They used to have a color they termed as "pearl", but almost every model in this color has been discontinued. Probably the best place to start with matching colors is to describe what each of the colors refer to (yes, some of them are obvious). White Granite, as the name suggests, is Lifetime's version of white. However, this is not a pure white. The "Granite" portion of the name refers to little gray speckles in the material that almost give it a very light gray tone. Black, of course, is black. Almond refers to a light brown, almost tan-like color; another description that has been used to describe this color is "light beige", though the tan-like description is probably more accurate for most people. The putty color is probably the most difficult to describe. Putty coloring is most like a mixture of brown and gray. The overall feel of the color is gray, but the brown tint in there softens the overall gray feel.

What models of Lifetime Chairs match what models of Lifetime Folding Tables?

In most all descriptions of these products online, companies will put the color of the product in the description of the unit; this is probably the best place to start the matching process. If, however, you have only a model number to work with or cannot match colors very well, below is a list of product models with matching colors.

Round Folding Tables:

5401, 2971, and 2968 folding tables all match the almond model 2803 folding chairs.

5402, 2970, 2960, and 2673 folding tables all match the white granite 2804 folding chairs.

Rectangular Tables:

2301, 2900, 2920, 2959, 2984, 4429, 8240, 4571, and 2640 all match almond model 2803 folding chairs.

2315, 2901, 2941, 4428, 2950, 2980, 8241, 5011, 4534, and 80075 all match the white granite model 2804 folding chairs.

As far as putty goes, the only putty tables that Lifetime Products currently has in production are the picnic tables. The model on the picnic tables is 2119. They also have putty Lifetime folding chairs in products, which is model 80081. The only black products they have in production are the 80187 Lifetime folding chairs. There are currently no black lifetime tables.

With this information in hand, you should be well equipped to find the right colors you need for your banquet hall, wedding, church, school, or home. Have fun shopping!

Lifetime Folding Tables - Atlas Folding Tables - Product Comparison

Lifetime Products has been producing folding tables and folding chairs for over 10 years now and have done quite well with it. They have provided many different sizes, styles, colors, and features. With all of the success they have had, a competitor is almost always going to emerge. In this case, there is a manufacturing plant in China that has begun to make comparable tables and chairs to those of Lifetime Products. For this article, we will only consider the round folding tables offered by both of these companies.

Lifetime Round Folding Tables:

Lifetime Products got into the folding table business when it obtained patent rights to the polyethylene plastic, blow molding process. Their tables feature this light weight, but dense material for the table tops. The framework is all steel, which provides great stability. The one thing that needs to be pointed out here is on their 60" and 72" round folding table models. On these tables there is an "H-Bracket" about 2 ft. off the ground, which attaches both legs together, on either side of the table. The H-Bracket is designed to provide added stability to the framework as the table top gets larger. Because of this design feature and that Lifetime Products still manufactures mostly in the United States, Lifetime offers a 10 year warranty. Typically, you can expect to pay anywhere from $30-$70 more per table because of these added features.

Atlas Round Tables:

Atlas imports their tables from a plant in China. The manufacturer there designs products similar to those made by American manufacturers, even down to the color, and sells them to American importers. What you will notice with these tables is very similar material on both the table top and the steel framework to the Lifetime models. However, on the 60" and 72" round folding tables, there is no H-Bracket. To help accommodate the lack of additional framework, they have tried to redesign the legs and folding mechanisms under the table to support the extra table top weight. Their selling point is that without the H-Bracket design, people sitting around the table where the H-Bracket would normally be will now have more leg room. With Atlas, these tables typically carry only a 1 year warranty. There are other importers of the same product, like National Public Seating. Due to their volume and competitive pricing, National Public Seating with offer the same folding tables with a 5 year warranty for only slightly more money.

Which one should you buy?

In most cases it depends. If you need the cheapest table possible and you foresee only using the tables infrequently, then the Atlas branded model will likely suit you fine. I have had about 3 years experience with these kind of tables and have yet to hear anything negative about them. But, if you have a little more money and want a folding table that is just a step below commercial quality, than the Lifetime branded folding tables will probably be best. You get at least 2 times the guaranteed life and potentially 10 times the guaranteed life, depending on who you buy from, for the Lifetime table. The H-Bracket, while sometimes a problem with leg room, provides you added stability allowing you to use the table for a greater variety of activities. Good Luck Shopping!
