What Are the Differences Between Correll Folding Tables and Lifetime Tables?

There are several manufacturers of folding tables that are based in the United States.

Both Lifetime Products and Correll, Inc. call the United States home. These two manufacturers also share many other things in common: 1, they both maintain factories in the United States; 2, they both manufacture comparable plastic folding tables; and 3, they have both been around for several decades. Inside all of these similarities are several major differences in their product line and general operations, which will be outlined below.

Differences in origination of their folding tables and general lead time for delivery.

While Lifetime Products does maintain a factory for making their tables in Utah, they also maintain a factory overseas in China. The purpose of this expansion was to be able to compete with other manufacturers that were making comparable products to Lifetime for cheaper outside the United States. With that said, Lifetime Products manufacturers a great deal of their product at their Utah location. Any of their packaging will clearly mark the country of origin for their tables. Correll,on the other hand, produces their product entirely in Arkansas (as of the writing of this article). Correll's plant supports their production needs as well as their sales operations.

While maintaining American locations for their warehouses makes for reasonably fast transit times with their orders, lead times between the two companies can vary significantly. Lifetime folding tables are almost always stocked and usually leave their warehouse within 1 business day. Correll on the other hand has two separate services; one of these is a quick ship (1 to 3 business days to leave the warehouse) and the other is a standard ship build-to-order (3-7 business days to leave the warehouse). What this means to you, the customer, is that you ought to research with the reseller you are purchasing from, what type of product your potential order is to know what time frame you can expect the shipment of your order; fortunately, you will never have to worry about extended backorder times because if the item is not a quick-ship product, then the product is build-to-order and will leave shortly after production. The downside to Lifetime's method is that they build their different products in bulk and warehouse the remaining items. This means that you have a much stronger likelihood of backorders that could push back delivery of your order up to a month; this problem is exacerbated if the model is produced in China. Same as with Correll products, if you have questions about the quantity you are ordering being available, be sure to always ask a sales representative for current stock status.

A Comparison of the quality and variety of Correll Folding Tables and Lifetime Tables.

Both of these companies build plastic tables that are close to being the same in specs and features. The easiest way to make sense of the products available would be to list the several models in order of durability and intended use. At the lowest end of the spectrum would be the CP-series for Correll, Inc. These folding tables are meant for light-duty, infrequent uses. As such, these tables come with only a 2-year warranty. The next step up would be the Lifetime Tables. These tables are used for medium-duty work, somewhat frequently. Lifetime Products warranties all regular folding tables for 10 years and their fold-in-half tables for 2 years. Finally, a step up from there would be the R-Series from Correll. This model of folding table would be used for Heavy-Duty, frequent situations. Correll warranties these tables for 5 years. From there, only Correll offers folding tables that are not blow-molded plastic. Correll offers folding tables in melamine, high-pressure laminate top, and plywood core.

The companies are both older businesses, but one is younger in the folding table market.

Correll, Inc. has almost always been in the folding table business. Their target products have been folding tables and chairs for churches, schools, and municipalities. Lifetime Products would be considered a more recent entrant into the folding table market. Their entrance came in the 90's when they began perfecting a blow-molding process. While this is not necessarily a reason to buy or not to buy from either company, it does give a good reference to the experience and expertise of the companies in their respective products.
